Book News!

The Tiny Ghost Newsletter, edition #25, May 4, 2023

Hi Fiendish Fam!

It's been a while since our last edition of the Tiny Ghost newsletter and there's been a lot going on, so I wanted to take a second to catch you all up on the last month which has been jam packed with book launches, book fairs, book deal announcements, and more! And we have some exciting hints at what the future has in store as well so stay tuned for that!

First up we launched our fifth title in August! Against The Stars came out on April 18 and the reaction from readers has been amazing. This tearjerker of a sci-fi romance has been garnering four and five star reviews since it came out. If you haven't picked up a copy there's still time!

To celebrate the launch of Against The Stars we held our first ever in person book events! We had two events; one in the North of England, right near where the book's fictional setting was inspired! We were hosted by the wonderful Hive Community Centre, a non-profit community space with a focus on inclusion and providing a safe space for LGBTQ+ young people. After battling with trains and nearly missing the event entirely (last minute cab anyone?), we had such a great time up north and it was amazing to see author Christopher Hartland's family and friends show up to support him.

We followed this launch up with another this time in London at our favourite indie book store, Kirkdale Bookshop. There were themed cupcakes, ghost-mallows, rose lemonade, and Prosecco and the night was a smashing success. We had an amazing turn out and it was so great to see so many people show up to support queer indie books! It's a night I'll remember for a long time! It's been so amazing getting to celebrate our books in person with so many like minded people and we're eternally grateful to Hive and Kirkdale Books, and everyone who came out to celebrate and pick up a signed copy of Against The Stars. We're planning some more events for the future and we hope to see you there! Thanks @pressctrlzee for the pics!

London Book fair took place in April and we were there for a couple of days attending seminars and speaking with people from all walks of publishing life. We attended one seminar with a focus on indie publishing and it was really great to hear other indie publishers speaking about their experiences and learning what other people are up to, maybe we're on the right track! It was a hectic couple of days but well worth it to feel inspired to continue pushing on our indie journey. Overall it was very enlightening and we came away feeling pumped for the future.

This next one I'm so, so excited about...we just announced that we've acquired Girls Night by I.S.Belle! In this sapphic novel four unlikely friends team up to start an underground fight club at an all girls school. It's all about growing up as a queer teenage girl, the frustrations of high school and feeling unseen. This one really whacks a punch right to the gut. We're in the midst of getting this one ready for presale, so keep an eye out for the cover reveal and presale links soon, plus the final blurb, and more info!

So I mentioned earlier that we have some newsletter exclusive hints at what the future holds and here they are! We've just signed another three (!!!) books, we'll be announcing these over the course of the next couple of months, but suffice to say we have some really exciting new books coming your way, and also some familiar faces.

And finally next week we're going to be revealing the cover for the long awaited follow up to our first ever book The Alpha's Son!!! The sequel, titled Chasing The Alpha's Son by Penny Jessup, is slated for a late November/early December release, so when the cover launches next week we'll have a definite pub date for you, plus the blurb which will give readers a little more insight into what this stunning continuation has in store.

It's been a busy month over at Tiny Ghost headquarters and we're showing no signs of slowing as we continue on our mission to bring more queer representation to young adult publishing. I'm so happy to have you along for the journey and so excited for what's to come!

Keep those grapes peeled for a slew of exciting announcements in the next few months and make sure you check out Against The Stars now.

Until next time...stay scary,

Josh x
